Brightstar CEO Marcelo Claure admits firm had looked into possible acquisition of retailer Currys
Brightstar CEO and founder Marcelo Claure confirmed to Mobile News Brightstar had “looked at” the possibility of acquiring DSG-owned retailer Currys last year.
Sources told Mobile News Brightstar had shown an interest in potentially acquiring the business during 2013 – prior to the 20:20 deal being completed.
When asked, Claure admitted there had been contact but was no longer interested.
“We have a buy plan and are always looking at acquisitions and new services and different models.
Some we decide to move forward on, some we just look at. This was one we looked at, and figured out that now isn’t the right time because we have other things in the pipeline.”
Mobile News contacted Currys in January, but the story was dismissed as false.
