BT has made its Home Essentials social tariff available for people to sign up for on the high street as well as online.
This will offer approximately 4.2 million recipients of Universal Credit and other benefits average download speeds of 36 Mbps and 700 minutes of calls for £15 a month- saving them £240 a year.
BT has introduced real-time eligibility checkers and an instant sign-up process in all of its 550 stores nationwide.
Home Essentials is a fibre broadband and call package designed to help customers receiving benefits adapt if their financial situation changes as it offers shorter contracts, no cancellation fees and eligibility reviews after 12 months.
It was launched in May 2021 to accompany BT Basic and BT Here For You Hub to bring together the range of products and services in one place.
BT director of customer care Tania Caporaso said: “We’re urging anyone who qualifies for our at-cost, social tariff to get in touch, whether that’s on the phone or in one of our stores, to take advantage of BT Home Essentials, which has become a lifeline for many who want to stay connected for whatever reason that may be while they are out of work or unable to work.”
