Compwise Systems Limited will be integrated with Chess Partner Services at Borehamwood offices

Chess has hit the acquisition trail again by adding IT systems provider Compwise Systems Limited to its growing portfolio for an undisclosed fee.

The Alderly Edge based firm said the addition of Compwise will add £400,000 to its annual turnover, along with three members of staff who will be combined with the Chess Partner Services (formerly Avenir) team in Borehamwood.

In October, Chess bought £2.2 million turnover ICT provider Parachute ICT which was also integrated in to the Borehamwood office.

Chess chief executive David Pollock said: “Compwise Limited have flourished as a total IT solution provider since 1992 ; they possess a wide and varied knowledge base to provide great support for the technical needs of all businesses.

“They have an outstanding reputation across the industry and we are delighted to welcome them into the Chess group.”

Chess said it has now made more than 90 acquisitions in the last two decades and expects the purchase to be “the first of many in 2015.”

In June, it acquired O2 and EE distributor Avenir Telecom, giving it access to a 60,000-plus mobile base, to complement its more than 50,000 base of IT and fixed line customers.

Compwise senior account manager Jim Djouma said: “When Chess approached us I saw a company intensely focused on growth and opportunity, strategically driven, financially powered and with a highly adept approach to creating robust success with acquisitions that fit right into their vision to be ‘the best of the best’ in a fast-moving, dynamic industry.

“The Chess Group is not just holding its own as a significant player in that industry but is setting a completely new standard.  Our people are committed to customer satisfaction, and empowered by Chess we will go from strength to strength.”
