Legendary guitarists former London home also boasts managed broadband service installed by communications provider
Daisy Group has installed hosted VoIP telephony and dedicated managed broadband services at the former London home of rock legend Jimi Hendrix.
The flat has been restored to its original state and now serves as a world-renowned museum dedicated to the Voodoo Chile singer.
Prior to Daisy’s involvement, the Handel and Hendrix museum had been relying on basic ADSL broadband and a 14 year old on-site telephone system, which staff claimed had limited productivity.
Facilities and buildings manager Simona Tocco said: “I had no idea what a hosted VoIP telephone system was prior to speaking to Daisy. But our account manager was really helpful and explained it so simply that the cost benefits were soon very clear.
“We wanted a system that could handle multiple calls and enable us to deliver a first-class visitor experience.”
Hendrix lived at the building between 1968 and 1969, a year prior to his death from asphyxiating on his own vomit. Next door is a museum and former home of German composer George Frideric Handel.
Daisy said it was unable to install fibre broadband to support the system because the museum, located in Mayfair, is a Grade 1 listed building. Instead, it installed a managed internet connection.
Daisy SMB services MD Dave McGinn said: “It’s a real thrill for us to be so centrally involved in preserving the legacy of such an iconic figure as Jimi Hendrix. He was an innovator himself, just like we are, so we hope he’s looking down with approval!”
