Stapleton will become executive chairman of group’s new joint venture with US mobile operatorSprint

Dixons eCommerce director Jeremy Fennell will replace Graham Stapleton as Carphone Warehouse’s new UK and Ireland boss, taking on the role of managing director.

Stapleton (pictured), who has been Carphone’s CEO for the past two years, will become executive chairman of the group’s new US venture Sprint Connect, which was announced last week.

Former Carphone Warehouse Ireland managing director Peter Scott will become Sprint Connect MD and will relocate to the US to lead the daily running of the venture.

Both Stapleton and Scott will be supported by up to 10 people from Carphone’s Connected World Services (CWS) division along with a wider integrated Sprint and CWS team.

Stapleton will work alongside Fennell for the next six months to ensure a smooth transition. Fennell will continue to head up the Travel and Harrods business for Dixons Carphone, with his eCommerce responsibilities taken on by group chief commercial officer Steve Ager and new eCommerce director Stuart Ramage.

Vic Self, who is currently Carphone Warehouse online director, will also take on an expanded role, which Dixons Carphone described as “leading the work to define the future eCommerce platform across both brands”.

Over a 14 year period at the company, Fennell has held several global senior purchasing roles, and prior to becoming eCommerce director in 2011, was international buying director for DSG International for more than four years.
