Doro strikes retail deal with Three to complete network full house

Milestone will provide it with the push to close gap on Alcatel and Nokia in feature phone market

Doro has revealed that Three will stock its latest 6520 feature phone, marking the first time it has had a presence with all four UK operators.

The clamshell device was initially available with O2 in September before being rolled out to Vodafone and EE over recent weeks.

This latest relationship with Three adds to the smartphone maker’s existing base of 12 retail partners in the UK, which also includes the likes of Carphone Warehouse, John Lewis, Asda and Curry’s PC World. Its products are sold in more than 4,000 UK retail branches.

Doro first launched the 6520 in February this year. It comes with with web browsing, email and social media apps.It also features hearing aid compatibility, a 2.8- inch screen and an assistance button.

It is available in red, black and white, with SIM-free pricing starting from £79.99. Example tariffs include 300MB of data, 300 minutes and unlimited texts for £16.99 per month and a two- year EE contract.

Increasing market share

Doro UK and Ireland MD Chris Millington (pictured) claimed the new partnership with Three will help the Swedish manufacturer achieve its aims of overtaking market rivals Alcatel and Nokia to become the worldwide feature phone market leader by 2018.

He told Mobile News: “We’ve worked really hard over the last year and now I can proudly say we’re being stocked with all four UK operators.

“It will give us a much-needed boost in terms of presence and I’m confident it will help move us closer to our aims of being number one in feature phones.”

This comes just two months after Millington revealed to Mobile News that Doro was the third biggest player in the handset sector, but it is confident that it will topple Alcatel and Nokia by 2018.
