First branded devices from internet search giant will go on sale in the UK from October 20
EE and Carphone Warehouse have been chosen to exclusively sell the Google Pixel smartphones in the UK.
Both devices on contract from EE will start from £50.99 and £55.99 per month respectively.
Carphone Warehouse will sell the Pixel and Pixel XL SIM free with a starting price of £599 for the 32GB version (£699 for 128GB). Contracts start from £30.99 a month with upfront costs.
Pre-orders can be made today from both EE and Carphone Warehouse with a general release slated for October 20. Those who pre-order will also receive a £50 Google Play voucher.
Features
The handsets will be the first to include Google’s latest Android update, 7.1 Nougat. A key feature for the new devices is ‘Google Assistant’, a smart service similar to Apple’s Siri. Google claims this will make everyday tasks easier with fluid voice command.
Google is claiming it has a ‘best-in-class’ camera (12MP) scoring 89 on DxOMark, an industry benchmark for smartphone cameras. They are powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor, come with five- and 5.5-inch screens and house 4GB of RAM.
EE CEO Marc Allera said: “The Pixel and Pixel XL from Google are market-changing smartphones, designed to combine EE’s advanced 4G network with the best Google services. As Google’s exclusive network partner we’re providing the best experience for the Pixel.”
