Emporia Telecom is offering a 30-day course via its new COACH app which will be a part of the new 2023 smartphones.
Those with the current line up of emporia will also be able to use the app, and it is tailored to users who are lacking digital skills.
The training offers the chance for users to be able to confidently handle their smartphone and carry out common actions to utilise the phone’s features, as well as being designed to match the learning patterns of older users.
The slow- slice- repeat method helps the user gain a basic understanding of technology through slicing large chunks of learning into smaller chunks which are delivered via a daily chapter.
These lessons are then repeatable so users can gain more of an understanding and easily access resources if they need a refresher.
A daily notification is sent to remind the user to complete the next step and they will be offered a follow up course once they have completed the introductory course.
Chris Millington, managing director at emporia Telecom UK & Ireland comments: “We know that after retirement, device usage drops significantly. This impacts the quality of a user’s interaction with the device, making everyday tasks more difficult simply because they don’t carry them out as frequently.
“Therefore, it is not simply a question of age. Digital engagement often depends on the frequency of use to build memory recall and confidence. This is why we need to provide our users with valuable reasons to engage, regularly building confidence through repetition and expanding knowledge.
“By encouraging frequent use through fun game- focused learning, the coach app becomes a reason to interact with the device and build these important skills. The app is a natural evolution of our printed training books, offering increased levels of portability and the ability for us to deliver new content to the user.”
