Redeem-owned brand will sell consumer electronics direct to consumers
Redeem has announced that its consumer-facing brand Envirofone will begin selling second hand devices direct to consumers via its new online store.
The Envirofone shop will offer a range of consumer electronics including smartphones, tablets, accessories and wearable technology from today. It will only be available in the UK initially with plans to extend it globally.
The company is offering six-month warranty and a guarantee that the devices are as “good as new” for any sales made via the website. All products will be subjected to a ‘100 point quality check’.
It will offer 100 product lines including handsets from Apple, Samsung, HTC and Sony. Redeem has previously offered a limited number of devices in this way via eBay.
“With mobile phones now an essential part of life, consumers are looking for a good deal, and we’re pleased to be able to offer this to them,” said Redeem chief executive officer Claes Svensson. “Envirofone provides access to the latest handsets at a big discount to the usual price. Getting your next phone from Envirofone, and trading in your last one, is a great way to be involved in recycling too.”
A number of the latest handsets are available including the iPhone 6 Plus from £540, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge from £520 and the iPhone 6 from £429.
Since its launch in 2005, Envirofone has purchased devices from more than 4 million consumers for a total of £158 million.
Redeem, which offers recycling and trade-in services for the likes of O2 and Tech Data Mobile, purchased Envirofone in January 2014 for an undisclosed sum.
The Envirofone brand operates in the UK, Holland, Sweden, Ireland and Spain.
