The distributor partnered with EE, Vodafone and Three to enter the airtime space in 2013
Exertis confirmed it has begun a review into its airtime distribution business amid rumours it could soon exit the market.
The distributor, entered the airtime space in 2013, partnering with EE, Vodafone, and Three at launch, before adding O2 last year.
A spokesperson for Exertis said: “We are in the process of reviewing our airtime business and will be doing so over the coming weeks, but no decisions have been made as yet.”
The move into airtime was designed to provide its traditional IT partners with simplified entry into the mobile space, while also targeting traditional mobile dealers.
However, rumours surfaced earlier this month that a number of Exertis staff dedicated to the airtime business have begun a consultation process around redundancy, while there has also been talk that its existing base – which it has never revealed – is for sale.
