BT’s new advertising campaign for its new Smart Hub WiFi router begins airing today (July 4), with A-Lister Ryan Reynolds fronting it.
It is the latest in the broadband provider’s ‘behind the scenes’ advertisement series, which has so far included the likes of other Hollywood stars Alec Baldwin, Willem Defoe, Rebel Wilson and Ewan McGregor. The entire campaign, which began airing in April this year, is a spoof take on what happens in the advertising industry.
Reynolds, most recently known for his lead role in Marvel’s Deadpool film, claims in the advert that the router ‘delivers the UK’s most powerful WiFi signal’. He demonstrates this by hanging onto the landing skids of an ascending helicopter. The campaign will be spread throughout radio, social media and outdoor (billboards and bus displays) channels across the UK.
BT first announced the device last month (June 22), claiming the technology in it offers ‘unbeatable wireless range.’ It is available free to new and existing customers signing up to a new contract. It can alternatively be purchased outright mid-contract for £50.
