The Honor 50 starts from £449.99

Honor has announced the global launch of its first major smartphone series to support Google Mobile Services (GMS) since its split with Huawei.

The Chinese smartphone vendor split from Huawei last year after being picked by the Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology Co consortium.

Honor’s launch of the Honor 50 series is the first outside of China since Honor became independent.

The vendor, which was a sub brand of Huawei until last November, had lost access to Google services due to the restrictions placed on Huawei.

This series was launched in China earlier this year, with Honor devices CEO George Zhao claiming that Honor has been able to grow its market share in China to 16.2 per cent in August.

Besides being supported with GMS, the Honor 50 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset.

It comes equipped with an 108MP main camera, along with an 8MP wide-angle camera, 2MP macro camera and 2MP depth camera. On the front there is a 32MP front camera.

The Honor 50 has a 6.57-inch screen curved OLED screen, which boasts a HD resolution of 2,340 by 1,080, while there is a 4,300mAh battery.

It is available in two options (6GB RAM + 128GB £449.99) or (8GB RAM + 256GB £529).

During the launch, a Lite variant of the smartphone was also unveiled for £249.

This variant comes with a 6.67-inch screen, 64MP quad camera and has 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage.
