Manufacturer revealed that virtual reality headset saw a massive response when it went on pre-order on Monday
HTC received more than 15,000 pre-orders for its virtual reality headset, the Vive, in less than 10 minutes.
The figure was shared by HTC’s VR product specialist Shen Ye in a tweet posted yesterday, which claimed the Taiwanese manufacturer had seen a huge response to the headset, which opened for pre-order on Monday.
It is cheapest in the US ($800) meaning that HTC has generated at least $12 million worth of revenue form the device in under 10 minutes.
The manufacturer has partnered with gaming firm Valve to launch the device, which was unveiled at CES in January and demonstrated at Mobile World Congress last week.
It is the first time a manufacturer has revealed sales figures around virtual reality devices. Samsung, LG, and Alcatel all unveiled VR devices and add-ons at this year’s Mobile World Congress.
