Vodafone, Three and Carphone confirmed to stock the Mate 10 Pro
The Huawei Mate 10 Pro will go on sale in the UK from November 17 for £699 prepaid, pre-orders can be made now (Nov 2) exclusively at Carphone Warehouse until release.
Carphone will range the Pro on all major operators (except Three) in the grey 128GB model. Monthly plans start from £44 per month with a £49.99 upfront charge.
The retailer is offering a free Moleskine Smart Writing Set, including a Huawei-branded red Moleskine notebook with an exclusive clutch bag. The Smart Writing Set copies handwritten notes across to the phone seamlessly, and retails for £179.
Three and Vodafone are confirmed to ranging the world’s first artificial intelligence dedicated smartphone, on prepaid and monthly plans. Colour schemes and monthly plans have yet to be confirmed by the operators due to Carphone’s exclusive deal.
Colour options announced by the Huawei include: grey, blue, brown and pink gold. The Pro has a 6-inch quad HD (1440 x 2560) edge-to-edge display made from Corning Gorilla Glass. It weighs 178 grams, dimensions measure at 154.2 x 74.5 x 7.9 mm.
AI
Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu claimed the Mate 10 series introduces “the first mobile AI-specific neural network processing unit, launching a new era of intelligent smartphones.”
With artificial intelligence (AI) Huawei claims the Mate series can optimise itself over time, learning user habits to launch apps quicker and conserve battery.
The neural network processing unit is within the Kirin 970 chipset, complemented with 6GB of RAM.
Camera
There’s a main dual-camera in place, which saw its debut in the P9 from the vendor. One camera shoots in colour (RGBM) is 12MP, paired alongside a 20MP monochrome lens.
Huawei claimed with the use of AI the auto snaps will be of professional quality, with less fuss. The eight megapixel front-facing camera also incorporates AI, the vendor claims this is a world’s first.
Other features include: Android 7.0 Oreo, USB-Type C port and IP67 water-resistance.
