The move signals Huawei’s intent to develop its UK business
Huawei has signalled its intent to continue developing its UK business after striking an exclusive $1.2m partnership with Currys PC World to launch its smartwatch range.
The partnership will see Huawei’s flagship Huawei Watch 3 range promoted across more than 200 Currys PC World UK and Ireland stores.
Stores across the country will showcase extensive branding and POS educating customers about the series.
Previous Huawei wearables including the Watch GT 2 Series, Huawei Watch Fit and Huawei Band 6 will also be on show.
The decision to strike a key retail partnership follows previous Huawei investment in the UK, which the vendor claims to be at around £3.3bn to the British economy.
Last year Huawei opened its first ever own-brand store in the UK at Westfield Stratford City.
The continued investment comes despite the troubles around Huawei’s access to Google OS within its portfolio of products as part of the fallout from US sanctions on the vendor.
Commenting on the partnership, Huawei UK consumer business group Anson Zhang said: “UK retail has faced lots of challenges over the years, including the pandemic.
“We are delighted to show our support through this considerable investment, bringing Huawei and Currys PC World customers the best retail experiences. We believe our ongoing partnership with Currys PC World will help boost the UK’s growing appetite for wearable devices and reinforces our commitment to UK customers.”
Flagship
Huawei’s recent flagship smartwatch series, the Watch 3 launched earlier this summer in June.
It runs on Huawei’s own HarmonyOS and focuses on smart life experiences and comes equipped with many health features.
Other features include a high-precision temperature sensor and 14-day battery life.
