The new partnership will allow Project Fi customers in the US to use data services across Europe

Three parent company CK Hutchison has signed a partnership with Google to allow Project Fi, the tech giant’s own Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), customers to use international data services outside the US.

The partnership has been made possible by Hutchison’s Mobile Virtual Network Enabler Hue. It will allow Project Fi customers in the US to use data services across Europe. It was launched in April last year, giving MVNOs access to Hutchison’s network (2G, 3G and 4G) across Europe and Asia.

Google launched its Project Fi service in 2015 in partnership with US networks Sprint, U.S Cellular and T-Mobile. One USP of the service is that it refunds the customer for any data that is unused in any monthly billing period.

Hue CEO Jarrod Nink said: “Hue is delighted to have been chosen as one of the international connectivity partners supporting Project Fi.

“Three Group’s investment in robust networks and Hue’s ability to offer the latest LTE technology in an innovative and flexible way is the ideal match for Project Fi’s exciting wireless service.”
