Homes and businesses across Devon, Dorset and Somerset are already benefitting from Jurassic Fibre’s network and the expansion to Cornwall reflects its commitment to level up in the South West
South West internet service provider Jurassic Fibre has started extending its ultrafast broadband network to Cornwall.
The network’s gigabit speeds will extend across the region and start in Bude with the Point of Presence (PoP) site already live, and the rest of the build through town will start in autumn.
According to the Office of National Statistics (ONS) areas surrounding Bude were deemed some of the remotest areas in the country.
Ofcom’s Connected Nations report also shows that there are hundreds of thousands of households in Cornwall unable to get speeds of more than 2Mbps- making them part of the 0.4 per cent of homes in the UK that cannot access a good broadband connection.
The fibre-to-the-premise network will offer the people of Bude full fibre connectivity and internet speeds of up to 950Mbps for homes and 10Gbps for businesses.
Jurassic Fibre CEO Paul Hellings said: “We are delighted to announce this first step into Cornwall, and this milestone is testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, who are working tirelessly to get homes connected and bring local communities up to speed when it comes to broadband.
“Bude is one of the South West’s top tourist destinations, and our network will support the advancement of the town’s key economic sectors and improve the lives of the people who live and work there.
“We look forward to unveiling further announcements soon, on when homes and businesses in Bude and other areas can get connected.”
