He returns to the manufacturing space after a seven year absence to drive firm’s growth in the enterprise and public sector

Lenovo has appointed industry veteran and former Sony boss John Harber as its new general manager for the UK and Ireland.

He is responsible for driving the manufacturer’s growth in the enterprise and public sector, as well as utilising his previous experience to drive Lenovo’s tablet and PC business.

Harber (pictured) is based at the company’s head office in Hook, Hampshire, and reports to Lenovo vice president and general manager of Northern Europe David McQuarrie.

He joins from wearable technology manufacturer Jawbone, where he spent seven years running its global sales and operations organisation. His other roles included vice president of EMEA and Asia.

It marks a return to the manufacturing space for Harber, having held a number of positions at Sony UK and Sony Ericsson over a 15-year period, most notably UK and Ireland managing director of the handset brand between 2006 and 2009.

Phenomenal brand
McQuarrie said: “John’s experience, especially within emerging technologies will help guide the company to drive
further growth and boost market share across the entire business.”

Harber added: “Over the last ten years Lenovo has grown into a phenomenal brand and technology innovator.
“I’m looking forward to joining the ambitious and hardworking team to help the company achieve new heights in both the UK and Ireland.”
