Data Select and 20:20 Mobile launch £250 Android handset from manufacturer this week

Distributors Data Select and 20:20 Mobile will begin selling the Huawei U8860 Honour handset from this week.

The Honour, which is available exclusively to the dealer market, will cost around £250 handset only.

Retailers already confirmed to sell the device include Digital Phone Company and Expansys.

Features on the 3G Android-powered device include an eight-megapixel, rear-facing autofocus camera, HD video, Wi-Fi, a Gorilla Glass touchscreen, 512MB of memory – expandable to 32GB with microSD, a 1.4GHz processor and a large 1,900mAh battery.

Huawei device UK and Ireland executive VP Mark Mitchinson said: “Distribution channel partners very often get overlooked by manufacturers. We are confident that this all-important channel will fully embrace the commercial benefits Honour has to offer.”

20:20 Mobile purchasing and marketing director Andrew Peat said: “It’s a major step forward in their smartphone strategy and shows what a serious player they will be.”

Data Select MD Roy Taylor added: “There has been considerable interest and buzz around the Huawei brand.

“We expect it to perform well in the market. We have interest across retail, online and B2B channels for the Honour.”
