O2 has bought part of IT services firm 2e2, a move the operator says will help it cement its enterprise offering

O2 has bought part of 2e2’s managed services business, a move the operator says will strengthen its enterprise proposition.

The IT services firm collapsed this week after administrators failed to find a buyer for the Newbury based firm.

The acquisition will see 107 employees transfer to O2 from 2e2, meaning the operator’s customer services previously run by 2e2 will now be handled within O2’s own network operations and service management centres.

Business director Ben Dowd said the move will help O2 cement its position as a provider of IT services for enterprise customers.

Dowd said: “We now have a truly unified approach to enterprise ICT, from IT security to fixed data networks. We see mobility at the core of our customers’ ICT strategies, which makes us well placed to lead their transformation.

“During this transitional period we will be focused on ensuring there is no interruption to the service our customers receive.”
