The network revealed the figures in its latest financial results published February 26
O2’s latest financial results published today (February 26) have revealed its total customer base has now surpassed 25 million.
The network claimed it had gained 739,000 (a 5.4 per cent y-o-y increase) contract customers last year. This brings total numbers in that area to 14 million. Over 240,00 had joined in Q4 last year. Contract customers now account for over half of all O2 connections. O2 claims it only had a 1 per cent churn rate for contract customers last year, which it said represented the best customer loyalty in the market.
It added growth was driven by the O2 Gurus help service and Refresh tariffs, which allow customers to upgrade early by paying off the remainder of their contract.
O2 CEO Ronan Dunne (pictured) said: “Everyone at O2 has worked extremely hard to deliver another successful year for the business. I’m proud of the dedication our employees have shown along with their passion for giving our customers the best possible service and experiences.
“Their commitment has helped us drive strong customer growth and market-leading customer loyalty which is reflected in our positive service revenue growth and profit.”
Revenue remained largely flat at over £5 million compared to the previous year.
