Fans can tweet messages of support to be displayed on top of The O2 during the forthcoming Rugby World Cup
O2 has unveiled the world’s largest projection in support of the England’s participation in the Rugby World Cup.
Ahead of the tournament, which kicks off tonight, The O2 has been transformed into a canvas for 3D projection mapping light shows, designed for fans to tweet messages of support for the team.
Using #WearTheRose, fans can have their tweets displayed on the roof of the The O2 throughout the six week tournament, designed to increase support for the team.
Visible from the Thames, air and space, 68 projectors and more than 144 moving head light fixtures are attached to the interior and exterior of the masts on The O2 to make the projection possible.
Projectors and lights cover a surface area equivalent to 10 rugby pitches, with the entire show synced with the LED screens that surround the arena.
O2 marketing and consumer director Nina Bibby said: “This is the pinnacle of our 20 year partnership with England Rugby and is the ultimate demonstration of O2’s support for the team.
“We’re calling on the entire country to show their support and now we’re handing over the incredible opportunity for fans to tweet their messages on The O2 to make them feel like giants and inspire them onto victory.”
