Dixons Carphone CEO supported Remain campaign but said EU Referendum result could help retailer consolidate its position as market leader
Dixons Carphone CEO Sebastian James has said the UK’s decision to vote to leave the European Union in this month’s referendum has left him disappointed, but said the uncertainty could create opportunities to grow revenue at the retailer.
Speaking on a conference call following Dixons Carphone’s latest financial results, James said the retailer supported the Remain campaign in the referendum, which was held on June 23 and saw 51.2 per cent of Brits vote to leave the EU.
James said: “The nation has spoken and there has been a vote to exit the EU in due course. As you can imagine, we have been giving some thought to this.
“Our view is that, as the strongest player in our market and despite the volatility that is the inevitable consequence of such change, we expect to find opportunities for additional growth and further consolidate our position as the leader in the UK market.”
