SIRIN LABS claims its new £9,500 SOLARIN smartphone has a number of leading features that make it the “best phone in the world.”

The new device, dubbed by the company as the ‘Rolls Royce of phones,’ was launched in front of 200 journalists at an event in London today (May 31). It was hosted by Countdown’s Rachel Riley.

The Israeli handset maker, founded in 2013, claims the device took over two years to make with a $72 million backing. It has been designed for ‘business leaders and interpreters’ who want both quality and security.

President Moshe Hogeg took to the stage and called it the “best phone ever made.” He said: “We do not accept that price drives what’s available in technology.

“The most important asset today is privacy and security. That was our main focus. We started at pushing the boundaries of technologies. We made our own rules.”

Co-founder Tal Cohen added: “Cyber-attacks are endemic across the globe. This trend is on the increase. Just one attack can severely harm reputations and finances. SOLARIN is pioneering new, uncompromising privacy measures to provide customers with greater confidence and the reassurance necessary to handle business-critical information.”

SIRIN claims the product is the result of more than two years of research and development at labs in Sweden and Tel Aviv. One standout feature on the phone is a switch on the back. This activates ‘shield mode’ which encrypts all its calls and messages. It is the same technology used by military groups around the world, claims the company.

‘World-leading features’

On top of the security functions, SIRIN also claims the phone has an additional number of ‘world-leading features’. This includes a 23.8 megapixel camera, four-tone flash, front-facing flash and a 5.5-inch Gorilla Glass 4 2K screen. Gorilla Glass manufactures screens designed to be more durable than conventional phone displays.

It also has three-bass boosted speaker linked to a smart amplifier. According to the manufacturer, this delivers “state-of-the-art” sound that maximises volume but controls distortion. Other notable features include a 4,000mAh, battery and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.

The handset will be available both online and in-store at SIRIN LABS Mayfair store from June 1. Harrods and Knightsbridge will both stock the device from June 30.
