Distributor hopes the launch of Windows 10 and Lumia 640 will help it achieve its target of 400 Lumia resellers by the end of 2015
Tech Data is confident that its number of Microsoft Lumia trading accounts will reach over 400 by the end of 2015.
Around 300 resellers have purchased Lumia devices from Tech Data since February 2015. The distributor says it is confident the launch of the new Windows 10 operating system and Lumia 640, Microsoft’s latest Lumia device, can help it achieve its target of 400 resellers by the end of 2015. The distributor told Mobile News that these resellers comprise of telecoms dealers, small medium businesses and corporate resellers.
Tech Data Mobile vendor director David Brassington said: “Our Lumia B2B sales are going from strength to strength. We recorded our biggest ever week of Lumia sales recently and momentum is really building up.
“With the release of Windows 10 and the promise of a whole new range of Lumia models on the horizon, we expect continued strong growth and plenty of new opportunities to arise for resellers.”
No figures about those sales were disclosed.
The distributor was given exclusive distribution rights to the dual-sim variant of the Lumia 640 smartphone, unveiled during Mobile World Congress in February, in June 2015.
The device features a five-inch screen, quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 8MP camera, 1MP front-facing camera, 8GB of internal storage, 1GB RAM and a replaceable 2,500mAh battery. This is the first dual-SIM device Microsoft has offered in the UK market.
Tech Data Mobile was also appointed as an official Microsoft distributor for B2B in July 2014.
