Handset to have specs comparable with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and will run the Android OS
Tesco has announced plans to launch its own-brand smartphone this year.
The device is likely to run the Android operating system, with specifications comparable with the Samsung Galaxy S5. It will also sit in the high-tier of the market.
Tesco chief executive Philip Clarke told BBC Radio 5 live’s Wake Up to Money programme that it would also come pre-installed with Tesco services. No further details on availability, pricing or specifications have been announced.
He also said the supermarket chain will be releasing the Hudl 2 in September – the follow up to its own-branded Hudl tablet from last September. Since going on sale priced at £119, it has sold more than half-a-million units.
