The new NHCS core is being rolled out across the UK, and is based on dedicated switched Ethernet technology delivered over an optical platform
Virgin Media Business Wholesale, the fixed wholesale connectivity arm of Virgin Media O2 Business, has launched an enhanced core platform for National High Capacity Services (NHCS).
Its NHCS offering uses Virgin Media O2’s fixed optical network for high bandwidth and ultra-low latency connectivity which claims to have no distance limitations.
The new platform provides another layer to the existing network which will give quicker, easier and smarter delivery of NHCS and help the wider deployment of 10Gbps services for businesses.
The current NHCS operates at over 300 sites and over 150 data centres benefit from its connectivity.
The new core network is now live across 14 sites, including four data centres: Equinix MA1 (Manchester), Equinix LD5 (Slough), Interxion Sovereign House (London) and Telehouse East (London).
Virgin Media Business Wholesale’s 10Gbps portfolio received a multi-million pound investment and a transformation through Project Spark, which enables the network to continue and hundred more sites will be added in 2023 and 2024.
Diego Tedesco, Wholesale Fixed Director at Virgin Media O2 Business, said: “The launch of our new National High Capacity Services core network is set to provide our partners with quicker and simpler provisioning to help improve their customer experience.
“I’m very excited to bring this enhanced capability to our partners. It’s a major milestone in our Project Spark investment programme, and now the first sites are live we’re focusing on rolling out our 10Gbps portfolio to many more locations, delivered faster and through greater automation.”
