The EU’s competition authority, the European Commission, has given Vodafone unconditional clearance to complete its acquisition of the German cable company

Vodafone has had its acquisition of German cable company Kabel Deutschland cleared by the European Commission, meaning the operator is free to complete the deal.

The decision follows Vodafone’s announcement in June that it had agreed to buy Kabel Deutschland for £6.6 billion (see here).

Approval from the European Commission, the EU’s competition authority, means Vodafone now expects to complete the deal by October 14.

The acquisition means Vodafone Germany will have 32.4 million mobile, 5 million broadband and 7.6 million TV customers.

It will bring Vodafone’s revenues in the country to ‚¬11.5 billion (£9.8 billion).
