T-Mobile Netherlands to buy Thuis, paving the way for Vodafone merger with Ziggo in the country
Vodafone Netherlands has agreed to sell its consumer fixed business, Vodafone Thuis, to T-Mobile Netherlands for an undisclosed sum.
The deal, subject to approval, will see Thuis’ 150,000 fixed broadband customers move to T-Mobile to pave the way for Vodafone Netherlands’ merger with Liberty Global’s broadband operation in the country, Ziggo.
The mobile operator were told to sell their fixed broadband business by the European Commission in August in order for the this merger to go ahead.
T-Mobile’s Netherlands’ acquisition of Thuis is subject to the European Commission approving it as a suitable purchaser, alongside approval from the Dutch competition authority and consultations with Work Councils.
The transaction is expected to close next month.
