Operator has taken on three veterans for six month work experience stints as they transition to civilian life

Vodafone has partnered with armed forces charity the Wounded Veterans Fund to offer former serviceman work experience as they adapt to civilian life.

The operator will give three veterans at least six months of work experience as part of a transition-to-work programme.

David Scott (Scotty), Dan Richards and John Boe (pictured, above), all served across Iraq, Afghanistan and the Falkland Islands between them, and joined Vodafone last month to support the Armed Forces Community.

David Scott will spend at least six months working for Voda

The three ex-serviceman are based in Vodafone’s Newbury headquarters and tasked with facilitating and building an internal Vodafone military network. They will also work to build a buddy programme for ex forces personnel who join the operator as employees.

Vodafone will also take part in Armed Forces Day, which will take place at Cleethorpes on June 25 and 26, where it will have two stands. Visitors will be able to test their agility and stamina on an obstacle course, take part in a speed challenge, or have their face painted.

Vodafone UK director of corporate and external affairs Helen Lamprell said “We are really excited to be able to announce the launch of our partnership with the Wounded Veterans Fund and are enjoying the opportunity to work with Scotty, Dan and John as part of their internship.

“We are also delighted to be supporting Armed Forces Day again this year as we continue our work to celebrate those in the military and their families. Our commitment to this extended last year when we signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant, pledging to help re-integrate ex-service men and women back into the workplace.”
