The manufacturer will be the largest tenant in the building when it completes the move by 2021
Apple is to create its new UK headquarters in London’s Battersea Power Station, marking the largest office letting in London’s West End in more than 20 years.
The iPhone manufacturer will be the biggest tenant in the Power Station. It will occupy 500,000 square feet across six floors and it is expected to complete the move by 2021. Apple will account for around 40 per cent of total office space in the entire building.
More than 1,400 Apple employees from existing offices around London will be moved to the new premises, which is one of the capital’s iconic landmarks.
The building, which has been unoccupied for 40 years, is currently under a multibillion-pound regeneration to accommodate both residential and commercial use, which Battersea Power Station claims is the ‘largest mixed-use project in Central London.’
Battersea Holding Company Limited chairman Dato’ Johan Ariffin said: “This move by a brand of such calibre will serve to generate even more interest in Battersea with its vibrant mix of commercial, exciting retail and residential offerings in a cultural setting designed to drive innovation and enterprise. Apple can only strengthen this formula for success.”
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said the move by Apple will help to generate new jobs and economic prosperity for those in the capital, adding: “It is a further sign that London is open to the biggest brands in the world and the leading city for trade and investment.”
