As the Belfast-firm eyes up future global expansion

The Barclay Group has announced plans to invest £2 million in its landline division, in a move that will create 35 new jobs by the end of the year.

The Belfast-based company, which includes its mobile B2B dealer Barclay Communications, is aiming to strengthen its growth strategy, with plans to go global.

This follows a recent company rebrand of all its businesses, which includes a new logo and website, with the new company branding to launch early this month.

An additional 20-seater call centre is also due to open later this year at Barclay’s existing Grove House headquarters.

Activity at the firm has already begun on a major office refit, plus the development of customer relationship management software.

Expansion

Britt Megahey, founder and managing director of The Barclay Group, says the firm has plans to expand beyond the UK.

“We won’t be stopping at £2 million [investment]. We have big plans to expand our services globally.

“While it would be easier to sit back and enjoy that success, we know that to be fruitful and sustain such growth, we must always put into the business what we get out. That includes investing in our team, who are the backbone of the company.”

The 35 jobs are expected to be filled by the end of this year, including engineering positions, support staff, direct sales, telesales and business development managers.

Last year, Barclay Communications secured a £3 million contract with the University of Cambridge worth 5,000 mobile connections.

The company has over 11,000 customers across the UK. The firm has also urged Ofcom to change rules applying to telco firms being automatically allowed to extend landline contracts, through the launch of its campaign Protect UK Businesses: Hang up on Auto-Rolling Contract.
