Retailer says thousands placed a pre-order with it within 24 hours of the high-end smartphone being unveiled
Carphone Warehouse has said that thousands of customers have pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S III, and claimed it is the fastest selling pre-order of 2012.
The retailer’s 800 stores will stock the Galaxy S III upon launch. It will also be the only retailer to offer deals with all major UK mobile operators.
The smartphone will be available from 7pm on May 29 for pre-order customers at selected stores, with general sales starting on May 30 across all of the retailer’s stores. The Galaxy S III will be free on monthly tariffs from £28 a month.
Carphone Warehouse chief commercial officer Graham Stapleton said: “Pre-order demand for the new Galaxy S III has surpassed expectations since the handset was first unveiled two weeks ago. The first 24 hours alone saw thousands placing their pre-order at Carphone Warehouse.
“The Galaxy S III is without doubt the fastest selling pre-order of 2012 so far. We’re fearing up for an exceptionally busy launch at the end of the month as the handset lands on shelves at our stores across the UK.”
