The retailer will offer the smartphone for free on plans from £11, and SIM free for £169.95
Carphone Warehouse will offer the BlackBerry 9720 smartphone in blue, pink and purple form October, with contract prices starting at £11.
The BlackBerry 9720, unveiled by the manufacturer last month (see here) runs on its BlackBerry 7 software rather than the latest version, BB10.
It has a QWERTY keyboard, 2.8-inch touchscreen, built-in FM radio and 512MB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.
There is a dedicated BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) button on the handset, and it is powered by a single-core 806Mhz processor.
The phone will be free on contracts starting at £11, and £169.95 upfront.
CPW Group commercial director Carl Cowling said: “The BlackBerry 9720 brings together the best features of the Blackberry social messaging experience in a simple and affordable package and is a solid option for anyone looking to purchase a multi-purpose handset.
“At Carphone Warehouse we stock a wide range of mid to low tier smartphones and have seen a marked increase in the number of customers taking out contracts in his increasingly competitive market.”
