Fans will be able to watch the Chelsea v Arsenal match on Saturday through a headset in four London flagship stores
EE will enable customers to watch a Premier League football match in virtual reality as part of a trial with BT Sport.
Those visiting four of the operator’s flagship stores in London (Westfield Stratford, Oxford Street, Marble Arch and Tottenham Court Road) on Saturday will be able to view the clash between Chelsea and Arsenal through tablets and headsets provided from 5:30pm.
BT Sport, which is exclusively broadcasting the game live, is filming it using virtual reality cameras and is working with LiveLike, a VR platform company that allows broadcasters to deliver immersive viewing experiences, so fans can choose to watch from four different angles.
They will also experience the game as if they were pitch-side or sitting in the crowd.
BT Sport COO Jamie Hindhaugh said: “We hope fans enjoy experiencing all the highs and lows of a football match via Virtual Reality. Fans and viewers are at the heart of our coverage and this is a great opportunity to experience this innovative new technology live in four of EE’s top London stores.”
EE CEO Marc Allera added: “This fantastic VR trial of BT Sport in four flagship London stores is yet another example of the additional benefits and unique experiences our customers will enjoy now we are part of the wider BT Group.”
