Both companies beat the likes of Three, Vodafone and EE in the telecoms category
O2 and Lycamobile have both beaten the likes of Three, Vodafone, EE and giffgaff to win prizes in this year’s Website of the Year Awards.
The MNO came top overall after being voted ‘Website of the Year,’ coming ahead of its major MNO rivals and other large companies such as uSwitch, Google, Coca Cola and Dove. O2 also claimed the prize for ‘Best Website’ in the Telecoms category, whilst Lycamobile won the title of ‘Most Popular Website.’
Now in its sixth year, the Website of the Year Awards recognises the most popular websites across 19 categories. Other winners included BMW (Automotive), Apple (Consumer Electronics) and Arsenal football club (Sports). There were 228 nominees, with each winner being decided through a public vote. Nearly 100,000 votes were cast this year between October and November.
Lyca claims it had won its prize after receiving more than 66 per cent of votes in the Telecoms category. Lyca Group chairman Allirajah Subaskaran said: “We are delighted to have been voted ‘Most Popular Website’ within the telecoms sector for the second year in a row, demonstrating our continued dedication to providing customers with the highest quality of service.”
