Phones 4U has cut prepay prices by £15 while Apple, Asda and John Lewis have discounted devices and accessories
Apple and Phones 4U are amongst several retailers in the UK offering discounts as part of ‘Black Friday’.
Black Friday is the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the US which has come to signal the start of the Christmas shopping season. In recent years retailers in the UK have started imitating US retailers in offering one-day discounts.
Phones 4U’s Black Friday deals include a free Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch (worth £249) when bought with the Samsung Galaxy S4 on certain plans.
It is also offering £15 off selected prepay phones, including the Nokia Lumia 620 (from £114.95), Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 (from £39.95), Sony Xperia Miro (£89.95), Motorola Moto G 16GB (from £149.95), HTC Windows Phone 8S Black White (£109.95), and Nokia Asha 205 (from £24.95).
Apple has reduced the cost of the iPad Air by £31 from £399 to £368, the iPad Mini by £15 from £249 to £234 and the iPad 2 by £25 from £329 to £304. John Lewis also reduced its iPad Air prices to match Apple’s, though the product is now sold out online.
There are no reductions for its iPhone range.
Asda is offering the Samsung GS3 Mini smartphone for £99 (normally £199) and a seven inch tablet – the Cyclone Explorer – for £49.
John Lewis has discounted phone and tablet cases from brands including Griffin, Belkin and Apple by 20 per cent.
It has also discounted the Acer Iconia A1-810 Tablet (7.9-inch screen, Android) by £20 to £149.
