The Taiwanese manufacturer claims “there is simply no better sounding smartphone in the world”

HTC has unveiled its new mid-range Desire 10, claiming it outshines even top flagship phones with its ‘world leading’ audio features.

The new device will come in two iterations called Lifestyle and Pro. Both versions are made of plastic, with a metal frame to aid the aesthetics. Four colours will be on offer: black, navy, white and Valentine Lux (pale blue).

Both feature HTC’s self-proclaimed world-famous BoomSound audio technology, which is designed to improve overall sound quality. The Taiwanese manufacturer claims “there is simply no better sounding smartphone in the world.”

HTC smartphone and connected devices business president Chialin Chang said: “With a brand new, modern luxurious design inspired by the HTC 10 and pro-like cameras, and including features that outshine even some of the top flagship phones in the industry, the HTC Desire 10 will have you rethinking what to expect from an HTC Desire.”

The “desirable” Lifestyle goes on sale today (September 20). Features include a 720p display, 13 megapixel rear camera, five megapixel front camera, 16GB (2GB RAM) or 32GB (3GB RAM) internal memory and a Snapdragon 400.

Specs are more advanced in the Pro with a 1080p display, 20 megapixel rear camera, 13 megapixel front camera, fingerprint sensor, 32GB (3GB Ram) or 64GB (4GB RAM) of internal memory and a MediaTek P10 processor.

In the past year, HTC has seen its share of UK smartphone sales fall from 5.8 per cent in Q1 2015, to 2.2 per cent in the same quarter this year, according to Kantar Worldpanel. Its installed base fell from 7.3 per cent to 4.7 per cent in the same time.

The Desire 10 lifestyle will retail for £249 in the UK from today, with the Desire 10 Pro unavailable in the UK, with no confirmed price.
